Bremen

The range of activities at the traditional institution in the heart of Bremen is decidedly innovative and practically oriented. The Hochschule Bremen – City University of Applied Sciences  enjoys a long tradition that goes back to 1799. It´s one of the “Fachhochulen” with the largest cultural engagement and highest European research activities in Germany. Through the European think tank “Think BETA”, the international urban participatory design project Betaville and the cluster “Mobiles Leben”, the HSB has a strong interdisciplinary focus on public participation, serious gaming, cross-cultural training and cultural diversity for many years. Approx. 8 000 students in 70 degree courses such as digital media, architecture, economics, social sciences, leisure studies, cultural management, aerospace, journalistic etc. The University enjoys the benefits of cooperative agreements with 300 student exchange partners worldwide and is probably the most international University of Applied Sciences in Germany.

Role in the project

The HSB is the coordinator of the project and takes part in the activities of the project with the Digital Media Area, the IIA Institute of Informatics and Automatisation and the ZIM Center for Intercultural Management. The HSB implements a local sub-project aimed at the participation of citizens and artists in processes of urban development and public art, and supports the partners and their sub-projects with existing technologies (free of charge) and knowledge. The HSB takes also part in the evaluation of the sub-projects and supports the exhibitions and workshops in the project. The HSB supports all partners by excellent coordination and project management resources on all levels of the implementation of all activities and the overall project.
